For many people the finest things to come out of Belgium are Stella Artois, the invention of asphalt and the EU directive on banana curvature - but that would be to overlook the achievement of César Franck, composer of that iconic violin sonata; the Prelude, Chorale and Fugue which concludes this programme in a rich landscape of intense harmonies and stirring melodies. It is preceded by two passionate and evocative pieces by Chopin and the very last piano pieces that Brahms ever wrote.
Robert Bridge has been bewildering Putney audiences with his playing and questionable humour for 30 years and organises an annual series of Knitting Concerts at All Saints.
